One hundred and eight years ago, on 16 May, the British established the 7th Gurkhas Regiment in their army. Every year, 100-200 Gurkhas were recruited and the 7th Gurkhas Regiment had around 900 soldiers.

In 15 May 2010, more than 50 retired soldiers from the 7th Gurkhas Regiment were gathered in a south Asian restaurant in Wanchai, Hong Kong. They celebrated the 108th birthday of the Regiment. Palungwa Dil Bahadur, the chairman of the Gurkhas
Security Guards Labor union Hong Kong; and James Lung, the chairman of Southern Democratic Alliance were invited to share the happiness of the retired soldiers in the Regiment.

Major Limbu Saran was the host of the birthday party. He fought in wars with the British army, including the Falklands War. After retirement, just like many members in the Regiment, he settled in Hong Kong. He had been a tutor in Hong Kong Adventure Corps.

We should memorize the contributions of the Gurkhas in protecting our city.
